What is Tell Me Thursday?
Thanks for stopping by. We’re two moms who decided after our recent addiction to Wordless Wednesday that we really really really wanted to know the stories behind some of these great pictures we were viewing every week.
We put our heads together and thought that there were probably a whole bunch of other people who felt the same way and so TellMeThursday.com was born.
Want to participate?
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Participate in Wordless Wednesday.
2. On the following day (Thursday) write a blog post telling the story behind that week’s Wordless Wednesday photo. Make sure that in your post you put a link back to your original photo so that new visitors can find out what in the world you are talking about!
3. Visit here each Thursday and add the link and a comment to your description post.
Each and every month we’ll choose one fabulous story to be our featured Tell Me Thursday!
C’mon and play with us!

This is a good idea. I want to join, is there any list of the participants? Btw, Wordless Wednesday is not a meme, it’s wordless. How about tellmethursday?
Actually, Raquel, there is nothing inherent to the concept of “meme” that requires words.
Wikipedia defines a “meme” as consisting “of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods and terms such as race, culture, and ethnicity.” An internet meme, similarly would be “a catchphrase or concept that spreads in a faddish way from person to person via the Internet.” (Though sometimes the term internet meme is “is used loosely to refer to things that are not necessarily memes in a technical sense.”) They also claim Hampster Dance was the first widely distributed internet meme. Hampster Dance had music, but not really words.
Secondly, despite the name, and the fact that many participants do not use words in their posts (thus leading to this Tell Me Thursday meme), words are not strictly verboten when playing Wordless Wednesday. As the site says, “there are no rules!” (Interestingly enough, WW is not strictly Wednesdays anymore, either. It’s now a daily meme.)
I would say that Tell Me Thursday is definitely also a meme, and a pretty cool one at that. I bet a lot of people are interested in hearing the stories behind the photos.
